Key Responsibilities
Strategic Business Development
Support local partners with BD planning, implementation of practice and sector strategies and development of client-focused business plans.
Client Relationship Management
Lead internal account planning for key clients, implement feedback programmes and identify opportunities to deepen relationships.
Market Intelligence & Opportunity Spotting
Track market developments, monitor client activity and identify leads that align with our practice strengths.
Proposals & Pitch Support
Manage and contribute to proposals and RFPs from opportunity assessment and key messaging to pricing input and debriefs.
Events & Client Engagement
Plan and execute client-facing events such as seminars, panel discussions and networking sessions.
Profile Raising
Work with partners and the regional communications team to enhance the firm’s visibility through media engagement, legal directories, social media and thought leadership.
Marketing Collateral
Maintain and update marketing materials, experience lists, partner profiles and presentations.
Directories & Awards
Coordinate legal directory submissions and ensure high-quality content aligned with strategic objectives.
Systems & Information Management
Maintain databases and internal systems with relevant experience, contacts and marketing activity updates.
Regional Integration
Ensure active participation in cross-office and cross-practice BD initiatives and support the alignment of Tanzanian priorities with firm-wide goals.
Special Projects
Provide support on firm-wide campaigns, cross-border projects and strategic initiatives as needed.
What we are looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Public Policy, Marketing, Law, or a related field.
- Minimum 6 years’ experience in business development, marketing, client engagement or partnership development – ideally within a professional services firm, industry association, business chamber or investment promotion setting.
- Ability to build long-term relationships with key stakeholders across government, regulatory bodies and business associations.
- Strong experience with client strategy development, targeting and lead generation.
- Demonstrated ability to execute BD and marketing plans aligned with the firm’s strategy.
- Experience in preparing high-quality proposals, managing BD projects and delivering measurable outcomes.
- Commercial awareness of the Tanzanian market; knowledge of the East and Southern African business landscape is a strong advantage.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in English (fluency in Kiswahili is a plus).
- Strong organisational, time management and stakeholder management skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, cross-cultural and matrixed environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CRM tools and the ability to adopt new tech platforms (including AI tools).
