Jacob Odanga

Jacob is an Associate at ALN Kenya | Anjarwalla & Khanna and a part of the Real Estate and Construction team. He focuses on property law, conveyancing, property development work, property joint ventures, construction, banking and corporate commercial law.

He has assisted on a number of property acquisitions, property joint ventures, structuring of property developments including residential and mixed-use projects, construction contracts, asset and share acquisitions and non-contentious probate matters.

• Acting for AVIC International Real Estate Kenya in connection with its development of a mixed-use state-of-the-art development comprising of one of tallest office blocks in Kenya.
• Acting for Skyline Towers Investment Incorporated in connection with the leasing of various units situate in the Delta Corner building.
• Acting for Centum, a leading East African investment and real estate development company listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange and the Uganda Securities Exchange in connection with the Two Rivers Mall situate on Two Rivers, its five-year, 100-acre, fully-integrated mixed-use development, the largest of its kind in Kenya, including advising on, drafting and negotiating the agreements for lease and short term commercial leases in respect of the retail spaces in the Two Rivers Mall.
• Acting for OLA Energy Kenya in connection with their petrol station portfolio, site acquisitions, lease renewals and branded supply arrangements.
• Acting for Ruaraka Diversified Investments Limited, GC Residential Limited and GC Retail Limited, investee companies of Actis, a leading private equity fund, in connection with a USD 250 million integrated mixed-use development that comprises of a 500,000 square feet retail mall with over 100 stores including restaurants, bars, cafes and entertainment facilities and a cinema and 215 residential units including drafting and negotiating the agreements for lease, sale agreements, long-term leases, tenancy agreements, tenant-purchase agreements, agency and management agreements.
• Acting for Kasarani Investment Holdings Ltd, an investee company of Actis, in connection with the acquisition of a parcel of land adjacent to Garden City Estate and the land structuring to accommodate the intended uses in the USD 540 million integrated mixed-use development. Her involvement includes advising Kasarani Commercial Developments Limited (KCDL), in connection with the development of the Grade A Office Park and the conclusion of leases over office spaces with multinational companies, including Kenya Breweries Ltd, a subsidiary of Diageo and CCI Kenya.
• Acting for Impact North (KE), a partnership between Actis and Improvon Group, one of South Africa’s most established logistics and warehouse property specialists, in connection with the USD 110 million industrial park and Grade A warehousing developed on a 103-acre parcel of land in Northlands, Ruiru.
• Acting for Actae Development in connection with Lantana Galu, a luxury home development in Diani.
• Assisting in matters involving various banks in structuring, drafting and perfection of securities including charges, debentures at the various registries.
• Acting for Karibu Homes in connection with its mixed use development comprised of office space, a shopping centre, schools, a hospital and 1,000 low cost homes in the Athi River region of Kenya, including drafting and negotiating the sale and lease agreements.
• Acting for Hemingways Watamu in connection with its re-development and refurbishment of a high-end luxury hotel in Watamu, Kenya.
• Acting for various one off purchaser’s and vendors in connection with the sale and purchase of various properties.
