  1. Background

    Seble co-leads Taza Legal’s Corporate & Commercial Practice and heads the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice. With nearly two decades of experience and a strong foundation in legal research, she advises domestic and international clients on corporate, commercial, investment, banking and finance, intellectual property, privacy and data protection matters. Seble also represents multinational corporations, non-governmental organisations and foreign investors across a broad range of commercial transactions, regulatory matters and disputes.

    Seble is recognised for her expertise in corporate and commercial law, intellectual property and regulatory matters. She has advised multinational corporations, financial institutions, development organisations and investors on some of Ethiopia’s most significant commercial and institutional initiatives.

    In addition to her legal practice, Seble has contributed extensively to legal scholarship and policy development, including research on intellectual property, private international law and commercial law reform. She is a Registered Trademark Agent and a member of the International Bar Association (IBA) and the International Distribution Institute.

  2. Career Highlights
    • Advising the Secretariat for a Free Trade Agreement on joint-venture partnership models, fund mobilisation structures and equity financing arrangements under a major free trade framework.
    • Advising INAO and the Bureau National Interprofessionnel du Cognac on the enforcement of the geographical indication “Cognac” in Ethiopia.
    • Advising UNDP Ethiopia on the establishment and governance framework of the International Network of Social Innovators for Human Development (INSIHD), Ethiopia Chapter.
    • Advising the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology on the development of Ethiopia’s Information and Communication Technology intellectual property rights legal framework.
    • Advising US-based project implementers and companies on establishing operations in Ethiopia and on ongoing corporate, commercial, governance and employment law matters.
    • Advising a leading international infrastructure group on contentious and pre-contentious matters involving an Ethiopian public company.
    • Advising a major European bank on banking and financial products, regulatory compliance, foreign exchange rules, lending structures and financial transactions in Ethiopia.
    • Advising a major logistics company on the establishment of a joint investment company in Ethiopia.
    • Advising a rights-management society on establishing Ethiopia’s first collective management society for music royalty collection.
    • Advising FSD Africa on the establishment of Ethiopia’s first securities exchange, including corporate governance, ownership structure, operational rules and regulatory frameworks.
