ALN Kenya acted as the lead Africa legal adviser coordinating the due diligence process, transaction, regulatory (telecom and mobile money) and competition advice over 14 African jurisdictions in connection with a USD 1.25 billion investment in a newly formed holding company by six leading global investors among them, Warburg Pincus, Softbank, Temasek and Singtel. Working together with other ALN firms, this deal played a significant role in helping Airtel propel Africa into the digital age by empowering and connecting communities. As a result, Airtel has become a leading provider of telecommunications and mobile money services with over 150 million customers.
Airtel has grown to be one of Africa’s largest telecom operators in Africa. The telecom giant continues to propel Africa’s growth offering solutions including, mobile money services which are creating a pathway for financial inclusion and shaping the business landscape.
