    Vianney is an Associate at ALN Kenya | Anjarwalla & Khanna and a member of the Firm’s Dispute Resolution department. He advises and represents clients on a wide array of matters, including commercial disputes, employment disputes, international arbitration, and civil disputes.

    Beyond his practice, Vianney is an established legal researcher who has been published in many peer-reviewed academic journals. His research interests are international commercial arbitration, climate change, and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms. He previously worked as a Teaching Assistant at Strathmore Law School and previously consulted for the Africa Development Bank and the Africa Legal Support Facility.

    Vianney is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. He holds a Bachelor of Law from Strathmore University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.

    • Acting for the Heineken Group, a leading Dutch brewing company, in connection with a disputed termination of distribution agreements in East Africa, before the High Court and Court of Appeal.
    • Acting for Tatu City, in connection with an international arbitration at the ICC in connection with a construction dispute with a Kenyan contractor over a FIDIC Redbook, 1999 governed construction contract, with claims of over USD 5.1 million.
    • Acting for a private equity firm in connection with recognition and enforcement proceedings of an LCIA international award in Kenyan courts. The dispute was in connection to a post–acquisition dispute in relation to breach of warranties, fraud, misrepresentation and quantification of loss on the basis of a consideration based on EV/ EBITDA data.

    • Acting for a shareholder in connection with suits before the High Court concerning unlawful transfer of its shares in two insurance companies in Kenya and the release of escrow funds arising from share purchase agreements among the shareholders.
    • Advising a leading global energy company on risks and liabilities arising from its exit from Product Sharing Contracts and Joint Operating Agreements, including potential exposure in an environmental suit alleging violations of the right to a clean and healthy environment by its former joint venture partner.
    • Advising an agricultural multinational in connection with searches and seizures of premises under Kenyan law and the scope and extent of the powers of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
    • Advising a global technology and software company, in connection with the debarment of its local representative and distributor in Kenya by the World Bank for fraudulent practices, including whether a debarred entity by a multilateral development bank or an international organisation is automatically debarred under the Kenyan public procurement law, and remedies for debarred entities.
    • Successfully acting for a multinational corporation in negotiating an out of court settlement in connection with an employment dispute instituted by one of its former employees.
